The Seeing Ear

The Seeing Ear media directory allows you to find, download and play (read) Seeing Ear library books located on the Seeing Ear website or on your computer.

 

The sub-directories of the Seeing Ear media directory are:

 

a. Library – Directory generated automatically based on the Seeing Ear website;

 

b. Current Reading - Local directory which contains files downloaded from the Seeing Ear website.

'.txt'

 

Settings 

 

There are two groups of settings described below:

 

a. Username and password 

 

To do these settings use the Seeing Ear Login Information task which can be started from the Seeing Ear task Main menu;

Alternatively, you can edit the relevant login file located in:

C:\SpeakOn_User_Settings\VI_Services\The_Seeing_Ear\login.txt

 

Open the login.txt file with a text editor such as Notepad.

The following refers to the relevant settings in the login file:

 

1. In the opened file, change 'Myusername' and 'Mypassword' to your own (the username and password you have obtained from The Seeing Ear);

 

2. Save the file and close Notepad

 

b. Directory settings 

 

The following setting is not required unless you want to use a different directory:

 

The relevant configuration file is located at:

C:\SpeakOn\app\VI_Services\The_Seeing_Ear\config\config.txt

 

1. Open the file with a text editor such as Notepad.

 

2. Change the following as required:

 

Change your Current Reading directory set by default to:

currentReading.directory=${user.content.dir}/VI_Services/The_Seeing_Ear/Current_Reading

Change the directory path to your Current Reading directory.

 

3. Save and close the file.

 

Important Note:  To use this facility you must be a Seeing Ear Library subscriber with a valid username and password.
