What's new, updating SpeakOn, mailing list and contact information:
A new self help speakon Yahoo group with a mailing list was established in June 2007. This mailing list is for discussions on all matters relating to SpeakOn use. It is located at:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/speakon/
If you already have a Yahoo ID you can join the group by sending an email to:
speakon-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Apparently, a Yahoo ID may not be required for some operations but the author of this manual found it necessary to obtain one to join the group. You can get a Yahoo ID free and a link is provided for this purpose on the group web page.
The group and mailing list were established and are moderated by Malcolm Parfitt and Adrien Collins who provided the following useful notes:
You can use e-mail addresses for group administration such as changing what is delivered to you and in what manner.
For example, if you want to cut down on the amount of e-mail you receive from the group you can send a message to speakon-digest@yahoogroups.com
Rather than receiving each message as they are posted you will receive a digest of the day's posts.
If you want to stop mail but not leave the group you can elect to have access via the web only. To do this visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/speakon/join
You will require a Yahoo ID to make changes here and will be asked to log in.
Here you can change a variety of settings of your group.
One thing that may be of particular interest to members is the changing of the message format. By default this is set to 'Fully Featured'. The 'Traditional' format is more accessible and you can change to this format by sending a message to: speakon-traditional@yahoogroups.com
It is worth noting too that these addresses are placed at the foot of each message.
To turn off mail delivery to your address, send a blank message to: speakon-nomail@yahoogroups.com
To resume the receipt of messages, send a message to:
speakon-normal@yahoogroups.com
This will also turn off the 'Digest' mode.
